Majority of deaths today in developed countries and increasingly in the less developed world stem from just this single five letter word WORRY.
The alarming increase in the number of heart diseases,
diabetics, arthritic cases, stomach ulcers and suicide cases has been proven to
be largely as a result of worry.
These are very much linked with the current setting of
the society we are living in, especially in the west.
Despite the advancement in medical science and the sophisticated
diagnostic and therapeutic methods, the medical world has not been able to
break through when it comes to psychosomatic abnormalities.
Destructive emotions of fear, worry, hate, supreme
selfishness, and the inability to adjust oneself to the world of reality is
responsible for 70% of the aforementioned diseases either as precipitating
factors or the causative factor itself.
Worry makes you tense and nervous and affects the
nerves of your stomach and actually causes abnormalities of the protective
juices of your stomach often leading to stomach ulcers. As Dr. Joseph F.
Montague, author of the book Nervous Stomach Trouble says "You do not get
stomach ulcers from what you eat. You get ulcers from what is eating you."
Worry can put you into a wheel chair with rheumatism
and arthritis.
Worry is now well linked to heart diseases. If you are
stroke with the pain of Angina pectoris (a heart disease), the squeezing chest
pain, you would never want to worry again. This pain is described by many
physicians as the worst pain.

Few things can age and sour a women and destroy her
looks as quickly as worry. Worry curdles the expression. It makes us clench our
jaws and lines our faces with wrinkles. It forms a permanent scowl. It may turn
the hair grey, and in some cases, even make it fall out. It can ruin the
complexion- it can bring on all kinds of skin rashes, eruptions, and pimples.
