Why You Should Kill Your Pride?

HUMILITY VERSUS GRAVITYDISCOVER ANOTHER   EXISTING  FORM OF GRAVITY
This heading looks somewhat eye-catching. What is the relationship between humility and gravity? We will start by talking about one, then about the other, then we will see how they are related.

The word 'humility', according to the Merriam Webster dictionary, is "the quality or state of being humble".

The word 'humble' means "not proud, not thinking of yourself to be better than other people". It is the opposite of pride, which is a "feeling that you are more important or better than other people". Other common words we may hear in place of humility are: down-to-earth, demure, meek, unpretentious, modest, unassuming.

Gravity is the natural force which actively causes things to fall towards the earth. It is the force that backs the adage which goes thus: "everything that goes up must come down". We all know exactly what gravity is, as it is one of the fundamental topics in elementary science.

But we should admit that this concept of gravity exists in the physical as it does in moral life too. What do humility and this moral gravitational force have in common? Proud people are always caught up in an active and stressful effort to push themselves up above others. It comes from their mindset. Surprisingly, this condition mostly befalls individuals with an inferiority complex. People who feel they should put in an extra effort to be valued. People who seek to make others think they are more important than they are in reality.

This is an ugly syndrome, as its moral, social and psychological disadvantages cause demise in almost all aspects of life. Beginning from the kind of friends we make to the kind and nature of the careers we build. Every aspect of a proud life is literally vulnerable to the natural force of moral gravity.

Humility is a nature which defies this law. When you do stuff that merit honorable recognition, but keep a low profile and stay meek and humble, you cause this moral gravitational force to lose its grip on you and you begin to rise slowly but surely. How does this work? When you are entitled to honour and respect whether by heritage or by your personal acquisition, and you stay down to earth, keeping a very low profile, it gives you some sort of positively mysterious air that the people around you will normally find delight in and wonder about. Even the jealous will pay more attention to you.

Humility opens you up to the positive world and attracts fruitful opportunities your way. You get to win the interest of good people, get good advice, have less difficulty in facing new challenges, get many more new opportunities and many many other advantages.

Pride is poisonous to the soul, as proud people only attract ill-intentioned people their way. Pride is subjected entirely to the full capacity of moral gravity. Nature acts powerfully and effectively to bring down proud people. The most common nightmare of proud people is a fall through disgrace. Through the shattering of their ego. The ruining of their pride, as their pride is their point of focus. Little explanation is necessary here as the adage covers it all - "pride comes before a fall".
